How we work

The children can start in a class when they are 3 years old. The youngest class caters for children up to about 4 years old. The children then move on to the reception class. In these two youngest classes the children mix with other Swedish-speaking children of a similar age. They also listen to stories, sing songs and take part in different activities - all in Swedish, of course.

When the children are older they are divided into groups depending on their age and knowledge of the Swedish language. We follow the curriculum devised by The Swedish National Agency for Education (www.skolverket.se)

We want the children to:

· Enjoy speaking the Swedish language - and feel proud of their origin.

· Get the opportunity to make friends with other Swedish-speaking children.

· Improve their ability to speak, read and write in Swedish.

· Be aware of Swedish culture and traditions.

· Acknowledge what they already know but also learn new words and expressions that they perhaps don't come across in their everyday life.
