Constitution for The Swedish School Society in Brighton

Name
The name of the society is SVENSKA SKOLFÖRENINGEN I BRIGHTON
(The Swedish School Society in Brighton)
Objective
The objective of the society is to teach the Swedish language and Swedish culture
to children 6 - 16 years of age who live in the Brighton area. A pre-school
is also provided as required.
Organisational Body
Decisions about the running of the society are to be made at the AGM in October
every year.
Members
Parents of the children who attend the school have the right to be a member.
The members have to pay the school fee that the governors decide upon.
Governors
The governors consist of three members and two deputies, who are all chosen
at the AGM. They sit for one year. The governors choose chairman, secretary
and treasurer.
Accounting Period
The Society Accounting Period is between 1 October and 30 September.
Signature
The governors decide whom they will appoint as signatories for the society.
Notice of the AGM
The AGM is held in October every year, notice to attend is sent out at least
3 weeks in advance.
Voting
Members of the society and the governors have a right to vote at the AGM (one
vote per family). The auditor has the right to be present, have a say and contribute
with suggestions.
Voting will be in the open. If votes are even the Chairman will have the deciding
vote, except in cases where a draw has been made.
Matters for the AGM
At the AGM a Chairman, and members of the governors and a treasurer are elected.
Decisions on budget and annual fees are made at the AGM. The governors will
be granted full responsibility for the running of the society in the coming
year.
The governors have to give a full report on the previous year.
Regulation changes
Changes of the regulations can only be made at the AGM.
If the society should have to disperse, any remaining assets will be transferred
to the Swedish Church in London (Svenska Kyrkan i London)
